Tears in heaven
The first step into the world of manga.
"Tears in heaven" was Alexandra's entry for the Connichi 2004 doujinshi contest, which won her second place.
Her story was about a young girl, whose little sister Denise had been killed in a tragic car accident. The girl feels responsible for the accident and cannot even bring herself to visit Denise's grave until she meets a mysterious stranger who gives her new courage.
Perhaps, due to the very personal dedication at the end of the story, it has already occurred to some readers that this is all based on real-life events. However, we won't go into further detail about this here for personal reasons.
Catwalk
The manga debut
"Catwalk" is Alexandra Völker’s first manga for Egmont Manga & Anime (EMA) and is two volumes long.
After Alexandra won second place in the Connichi 2004 doujinshi contest with her comic “Tears in Heaven”, the publishing director of EMA, Georg F. W. Tempel offered her the chance to publish her own manga.
Alex – who initially wasn't entirely sure who was actually talking to her – couldn't believe it, but naturally said yes straight away.
In fact, the idea for “Catwalk” had been developing in Alexandra's head for some time. She knew exactly which characters would feature and which plot would engulf them. Only a short while after her conversation with the publishing director of EMA, she presented her idea to the publishing house. Some changes were made here and there and then nothing more stood in the way of “Catwalk”.
Well, almost nothing. Naturally Alex had to set her story down on paper and acquire some new knowledge about how to get her work ready for print. In addition, the publication deadline was postponed for months.
But finally everything worked out well, and anyone who wants can order “Catwalk”, the manga by an artist with a completely individual drawing style, from all goods bookshops.
Make a Date
What is a “Chibi”?
"Make a Date" is a "Chibi" brought out in August 2007 by Carlsen Publishing House. The word “chibi” comes from Japanese and loosely means “small” - and correspondingly the manga in this range use a smaller format.

Paris
"Catwalk" continues...
... into the next generation! Venus, the heroine from “Paris”, is the daughter of supermodel Blanche, from “Catwalk” 1 and 2 .
Alexandra's latest work is not, however, a mere instalment of the fashion manga. Instead, it tells a story in its own right – about the first great love of a normal teenager.
